Where requests appear
You get an email for each new request, and it also appears on Time Off → Approvals and on your Home page.
Review a request
Each request shows:
- the dates and total hours
- the employee’s balance after this leave
- whether anyone else in the team is away at the same time
- any note from the employee
Approve or decline
- Open the request.
- Click Approve, or Decline and add a short reason. The reason is shown to the employee.
Approved leave is sent to payroll automatically. If your organisation uses Xero, it’s queued to sync to Xero too.
Over-balance requests
If a request goes over the employee’s balance, your decision becomes an endorsement. The request then goes to your organisation’s out-of-policy approver for a final decision.
Approve as unpaid (HR)
HR and administrators can tick Approve as unpaid when approving paid leave, for example when someone has run out of balance. Nothing comes off their balance, and it goes to Xero as unpaid leave. The employee sees it marked Unpaid.
Confidential leave
Confidential types such as Family and domestic violence leave skip the manager and go straight to HR. Managers and teammates only see Other leave on calendars.
