Where the number comes from
Your balance starts from your start date or the opening balance HR entered when PeopleTeam was set up. It then grows a little every pay cycle based on your hours.
- Annual leave: 4 weeks a year for full-time employees, pro-rata for part-time.
- Personal/carer’s leave: 10 days a year, pro-rata for part-time.
- Long service leave: depends on your state. It usually becomes available after 7 to 10 years.
Casual employees don’t accrue annual or personal leave.
Booked leave is already taken off
The balance you see has approved and waiting requests taken away, so you always know what you can still book.
If your organisation uses Xero
When your organisation has connected Xero Payroll, the balance shown comes straight from Xero. It updates after each pay run.
Payslips aren't kept in PeopleTeam. On your own Leave tab you'll see a link to Xero Me, where you sign in to view and download them.
Seeing someone else's balance
Managers (for people who report to them), HR, admins and payroll users can open a person's profile and choose the Leave tab. It shows their balances, where those balances come from (Xero or PeopleTeam), and their time-off requests. It's view only: approve or decline requests from Time Off.
My balance looks wrong
- Check for requests still waiting on the Time Off page. They count against your balance.
- Compare with your latest payslip. Payslips show the balance at the end of that pay period.
- If it still looks wrong, ask HR. They can check your opening balance and work pattern.
